Wat is TIGed?

TIGed is a new set of teacher and student tools to help better integrate TakingITGlobal.org into classrooms around the world. Using TIGed, teachers and students can draw on the content and network of youth who use TakingITGlobal without necessarily having to interact on the public site. Classrooms from around the world can collaborate on projects that fit into local curriculum. Teachers can draw inspiration for activities from the Activity Database, and support each other in our teacher discussion groups.

Wie zou TIGed moeten gebruiken?

Leraren die geïnteresseerd zijn in TakingITGlobal, maar die begeleiding of ideeën nodig hebben over hoe het in hun lessen past.
Leraren die geïnteresseerd zijn in TakingITGlobal maar die meer conrtôle over hun omgeving nodig hebben en/of strengere prvicay bescherming voor hun studenten nodig hebben dan de publieke gemeenschap biedt.
Leerkrachten die willen dat hun leerlingen interacteren met hun leeftijdsgenoten van over de hele wereld om een nieuw perspectief te winnen op de wereld of om hun cross-culturele communicatie vaardigheden te verbeteren.

Je hoeft niet te werken in een één-op-één computeromgeving voor TIGed om van nut te zijn. Of je nu occasionele toegang tot computerruimten hebt, of een handvol computers in jouw klas, of eenvoudig een computer en een projector, er zijn manieren voor je om van TIGed gebruik te maken.

Dien ik eerst lid te zijn van TakingITGloal voordat ik gebruik kan maken van TIGed?

Om ten volle te profiteren van TIGed's tools, moet je een lid worden van TIG. TakingITGlobal.org lidmaatschap is gratis, klaar binnen enkele seconden, en je hoeft geen persoonlijke informatie publiek te maken. Je kunt beidel aanmeldingsprocedures op hetzelfde moment invullen hier.

Hoe beschermt TIGed mijn studenten privacy?

Normally, when members sign up for TakingITGlobal.org, they have the option of creating a public profile with a full biography and the ability to add contact information. We've restricted profiles for any student members under the age of 18. Outside of their classrooms, only basic display name (not their real name), age, and country will be shown. Within classrooms, students may choose to complete a full profile that will be accessible only to their teachers and classmates.

Teachers can also choose to make their classrooms public or private. Public classrooms are accessible to anyone with a link (for viewing--only class members may edit), wheras private classrooms can only be viewed by students and teachers who have been given an access code and are logged into their TIG accounts.

Ik ben al een TIG lid. Hoe beïnvloedt het gebruiken van TIGed mijn lidmaatschap?

If you are a teachers, joining TIGed will only add to the features available to you. You will be able to create and control your own classrooms, and join those created by others.

Als je een student bent en jonger dan 18, zal jouw normale TIG profiel verborgen zijn zo lang als je een deel van de klas bent. Je zal jouw complete profiel herkrijgen op het moment dat jouw klas eindigt.

Als je een student ouder dan 18 jaar bent, zal jouw TIG profiel onaagetast blijven.

Is TIGed beschikbaar in mijn taal?

Aanvankelijk zal TIGed slechts in het Engels beschikbaar zijn. Aangezien wij groeien, zal TIGed in alle dezelfde talen als TakingITGlobal.org beschikbaar zijn: Engels, Frans, Spaans, Portugees, Russisch, Arabisch en Chinees. Wij voorzien dat het Frans en het Spaans tegen de herfst van 2006 volledig zullen zijn.

Voldoet TIGed aan curriculum standaards?

Many of the activities in the Activity Database are linked to specific curriculum standards, using McREL's Compendium of Standards and Benchmarks. However, they may not be linked to your local standards. Every activity should, however, be flexible enough to fit into your own circumstances. Remember: the Activity Database is full of teacher created content, and you can submit your own suggestions!

Hoe begin ik?

The first step is to join a school. Go to TIGed.org and click on "Register" in the "Are you a teacher?" box. You will be guided through the simple registration process, after which you will have the ability to create and join classes and access the Activity Database.

Moet ik betalen om te beginnen?

Ja. TIGed is een complex systeem dat veel werk heeft gevraagd van het personeel om te ontwikkelen en te onderhouden. Om voor TIGed's duurzaamheid te zorgen, gaan we de volgende kosten inmplementeren, met ingang van 1 januari 2006, voor de toegang tot de virtuele klaslokalen van TIGed, de activiteiten database, en de leraar discussie groepen.

Kleine school ( tot 15 overdraagbare leraren licenties): $195 Canadese/US, jaarlijks
Grote school ( tot 75 transferable leraren licenties): $495 Canadian/US, jaarlijks

Please contact education@takingitglobal.org to negotiate multi-school, district-wide, and non-OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) rates.

Unlimited student access is free, as is access to TakingITGlobal.org. Teachers who have obtained a promotional/coupon code at a conference or presentation will be prompted for it during the registration process. TakingITGlobal accepts payment online using major credit cards or Paypal. For other methods of payment, please follow instructions during the registration process.
